In April 2022 LocatED withdrew their planning application for the 259 Plaistow Road site (Plaistow Place), following discussions with planning officers at the London Borough of Newham. Therefore the application is currently not available for comment on the planning portal.

Plaistow Place: AN EDUCATION-LED PROPOSAL FOR A NEW SECONDARY SCHOOL AND HOMES
On behalf of the Department for Education, LocatED is bringing forward an exciting education-led scheme to transform 259 Plaistow Road in Newham – the former Dagenham Ford garage next to Plaistow London Underground station, called Plaistow Place.
Our proposals have been developed over the last 12 months in response to our extensive community engagement. The proposal comprises:
An exciting education led mixed-use development.
A new 800 place secondary school with a sixth form to meet the educational needs in Newham.
319 new homes – private, family and affordable, including social rented homes.
A range of new school facilities that can be used by the whole community including a 5-a-side football pitch, dance studio, conference facilities and sports hall.
A significant amount of high-quality landscaping that celebrates the school.
